Through in-depth self work, 1:1 sessions that strike a balance of empathy and being challenged to change my way of thinking, Lara was able to help me navigate a really complex issue. One of the best things about her program is that it provides a generous amount of resources through the online learning platform, as well as flexibility to work with her long-term in ad hoc sessions outside of the set program. Working with Lara was great! I became aware of a lot of thoughts and behaviors around food and my body which I’d been previously unaware of. I gained skills which could help me improve my relationship with food and myself; a toolkit I’ve been able to take away with me into the future. The regular exercises/activities she set as homework especially helped me stay consistent during my recovery and I really appreciated that her approach was tailored to my needs based on the feedback I gave

Lara has been super helpful with finding strategies to control my binge eating. So much so that I haven’t binged in over three months! We have worked on making adjustments to my everyday eating to reduce the urge to binge and control sugar levels. We have also made huge progress on the way I see myself - I am able to accept much more how I look and be kinder to myself. Thanks Lara for being open about your own personal past! It helps to know that you understand what I have been going through.

I understand why I felt like I did! I now know when I’m actually hungry for certain foods. It’s changed my mindset about “problem” foods and empowered me to know what to do with easy and practical suggestions. The most important thing is that I’m into self-care again and paying attention to how I eat. Those “naughty” foods just don’t have the same emotional pull that they used to!

I have been a serial unsuccessful dieter for at least 20 years so have started this course with lots of bad habits and negative self talk. I have loved working through the Food Freedom Matters course and changing my habits. I love that the theory is backed up by research and evidence. Being able to eat anything with no restriction has started to see results in the sense of less cravings

I used to use food as an escape, to help me deal with all my negative emotions and crap going on in my life... learning how to manage my emotional eating has given me a way out of this. Working with you has been the best investment in myself and my future. It's enabled me to stop putting things off and really start living life NOW. It helped me undo the diet culture junk that had been woven and embedded into my brain after years of diets which just warped my relationship with food and impacted me mentally, psychologically, emotionally, socially and physically. I am someone who's spent years yoyo dieting... having a real problem with food and what eating was for me and how it made me feel guilty. I found the course and... it really helped me think differently about food and that relationship with food. Now I feel a lot happier in myself... feeling OK to eat what I want, when I want.

And for one of the first times ever the other night my partner offered me a donut in bed (he eats a lot of sugar which I struggle with being around due to my stories around having no will power etc), and because I hadn’t been super restrictive like I usually try to be, I actually noticed I wasn’t hungry and said “no thanks”. Woo!

I feel it has been one of the most positive experiences I could have had. I now have a kick in my step…. I have started going to the gym. I am going to Australia in six weeks and no longer dread the thought of showing off my mum curves. When you are so focused on your kids it’s nice to be doing something to make yourself feel good too and I thank Lara for that, and for her enthusiasm.
