18 Empowering Affirmations for Positive Body Image and Food Freedom

Have you ever tried using affirmations?

For years I thought they were a bit… fluffy. But when I was deep in disordered eating, stuck in the cycle of bingeing and guilt, I realised something: I had no problem repeating negative thoughts all day long.

“You’re disgusting.”
“You’ve failed again.”
“You can’t be trusted with food.”

If those harsh thoughts had power - and they did - then maybe kind, grounding ones could too.

Affirmations aren’t magic. But they can gently rewire the way you speak to yourself. Over time, that shift can change how you feel, how you eat, and how you show up in your body.

Below are 18 affirmations you can use to support your healing. Say them out loud. Write them down. Stick them on your mirror. Save a few to your phone. Come back to them anytime you need a reset.
